DIALOGUES The Stories We Tell: Advancing Accessibility Through Inclusive Storytelling

Summit

Synopsis

Accessibility is often misunderstood in entertainment, with most efforts focused on distributing content to audiences rather than shaping how stories are conceived and created. This conversation aims to shift focus away from technical standards and legal compliance, centring instead on the cultural and attitudinal changes required to make accessibility real.

This panel breaks down accessibility as a design philosophy that requires dismantling four barriers: physical, information/communication, systemic, and attitudinal. Joined by Official Selection talent and industry experts, this discussion will highlight how confronting attitudinal barriers requires inclusive storytelling, and how, without this shift, accessibility and disability inclusion efforts will fall short.
