During the summer break before their final year of high school on the main island of Okinawa, Kamei and his friends find themselves contemplating their future. However, their lives take an unexpected turn when they encounter Colin, a young teenager raised on the American base of Naha. Their friendship is tested when a U.S. serviceman is accused of rape in the local community. The clash and the uncanny resemblance between Kamei and Colin becomes the story’s beating heart: a raw coming-of-age that asks what it means to belong.
